Highlights: PA PUC Public Session of May 5, 2016

           At the May 5, 2016 Public Meeting of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ("Commission"), the Commissioners adopted Staff's recommendations for action by a vote of 4-0 on all items listed on the Main Agenda, except as reflected herein below under the respective Commission agenda headings.  Review of particular items addressed by the Commissioners at this Public Meeting which may be of interest are addressed under the respective Commission agenda headings below.  Any relevant motions and statements are attached hereto and to the original of this Session Memo filed in the Public Meeting Agenda and Session Memo binder.  The next regular Public Meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.  The minutes of the Public Meeting of the April 7, 2016, were, by a vote of 4-0, approved as submitted.

MAIN AGENDA

OFFICE OF SPECIAL ASSISTANTS

  • EXPRESS TAXI LLC, A-2015-2475767.  Application filed on 3/16/15, for the right to transport as a common carrier by motor vehicle, persons in call or demand service from points in the Counties of Berks and Lancaster, to points in PA and return.  Notice of the application was published in the Pa. Bulletin on 5/23/15.  Autocab, Inc. and other parties filed timely protests.  A hearing was held on 8/12/15.  By Initial Decision issued on 11/3/15, ALJ Barnes recommended that the application be granted.  Autocab filed Exceptions on 11/23/15.  The applicant filed Replies to Exceptions on 12/3/15.  RECOMMENDATION: That the Commission adopt the proposed Opinion and Order.  Vote 4-0.

BUREAU OF TECHNICAL UTILITY SERVICES

  • All matters approved as submitted.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • May is National Electrical Safety Month.  Vice Chairman Place issued a statement and made remarks concerning the PUC's and Pennsylvania utilities commitment to safety and reminded homeowners and contractors to contact PA One Call before digging.
  • Governor Wolf has nominated David Sweet to serve as the next PUC Commissioner.

NEXT PUBLIC MEETING IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MAY 19, 2016 AT 10:00 A.M.
